Brooke is an Assistant Manager at the Charlottetown Home Depot she became connected with the Boys & Girls Club through a volunteer initiative at the store called Team Depot which has supported our Clubs for many years. Brooke has worked on many renovation projects with Team Depot including a fence, painting, flooring, and many more. Brooke and Team Depot have also supported our Christmas Families program and many other programs through their efforts with the Orange Door Campaign. Brooke became a board member after getting to know our mission and values and feeling the pull to get more involved with what we do.
Christina currently works with Community and Correctional Services. She began volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club in 2011 and became a staff member after graduating from Social Work in 2014.
Brett is a former employee of the BGC Charlottetown, working from 2010 until 2018 as a counsellor. He now works in Corporate Tax for the Canada Revenue Agency after graduating from the University of Prince Edward Island. Brett is looking to take his many years of experience working at the BGC to assist on the Board of Directors.
Carla MacDonald is a public servant working at Veterans Affairs Canada. Carla became connected with the boys and girls club when her children began attending the after school program in Charlottetown.
Jim has been an active community leader for many years. He has served as a City Councilor for 10 years, has been a member of the Board of Directors, including President, for the in PEI Golf Association, former President of Belvedere Golf Club and has served as Board Member for the Federal Retirees Association. He is presently Vice President of Joyriders Therapeutic Riding Association of PEI and is on the Executive and member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Pius X. Jim is retired from the Federal Public Service and resides in Charlottetown with his wife JoAnn.
Nicole works for the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce. As programs director, she manages the delivery of business support services to newcomer entrepreneurs, and networking assistance to professionally-trained job-seekers who are new to the local labour market. She also oversees the delivery of equity, diversity and inclusion training to employers throughout the province.
She is a member of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s Council for Women’s Advocacy. The mandate of the Council is to bring the voice and perspectives of women to national policies, inform the Canadian Chamber’s initiatives in advancing the gender equality agenda, and drive meaningful action to address the identified issues and barriers.
Nicole is the president of the Vulnerable Children Society board of directors. Founded in 2010, VCS is a registered charity in Canada that partners with non-governmental organizations in Ethiopia to support at-risk children, teens and families with specific, targeted programs.
She joined the BGC board of directors in June 2022. She’s been a fan of “The Club” since 2020, when her young daughter started attending the after-school program, and more recently, summer camps.
Nicole holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Prince Edward Island.
Kent Bruyneel is from Coquitlam, British Columbia and lives in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island with his wife, Dr. Shannon Bruyneel, and their three children (Andre, Georgia, and Willa); one dog (Buck); and an indeterminate, ever-changing number of fish (whose names are difficult to keep track of).
He holds a Bachelor of Business (UPEI); a Master of Publishing (SFU) and the designation of CPA, CMA. He works as an Instructional Designer, Editor, Writer, and Teacher; and consults with individuals, corporations and non-profit organizations on education, communications, and digital strategy.
He is an Adjunct Professor of Business at the University of Prince Edward Island.
Hilary is a lawyer in the Charlottetown office of Stewart McKelvey. She practices in the area of general litigation. Hilary obtained her Juris Doctor (Laws) from the University of New Brunswick in 2016, and her Bachelor of Commerce in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations from Saint Mary’s University in 2011. Hilary has worked and volunteered throughout both her degrees. She worked as a Residence Assistant during her Undergraduate degree and volunteered with a national literacy organization (Frontier College) tutoring school children in both Math and English throughout her law degree.
Riley is a Senior Accountant with Grant Thornton LLP in Charlottetown. He has been involved in fundraising and supporting many community organizations and charitable causes. Riley has worked tirelessly to streamline our accounting systems and volunteers many hours to our Club. In his spare time Riley enjoys golf and hockey.
